Hacked, leaked, exposed: Why you should never use stalkerware apps

Stalkerware companies frequently face data breaches

According to TechCrunch’s ongoing tally, including the most recent data spill involving uMobix, there have been at least 27 stalkerware companies since 2017 that are known to have been hacked, or leaked customer and victims’ data online.

Security risks and ethical concerns

Using stalkerware is creepy, unethical, potentially illegal, and puts your data and that of your loved ones in danger. These apps enable abusers to spy on victims via phones, posing a grave threat to women’s privacy and safety.

Apps become targets for hackers

Stalkerware apps often become targets for hackers who seek to expose and destroy this toxic and unethical industry. Examples of such attacks include the 2017 data breach, which revealed vulnerabilities in multiple stalkerware applications.

Multiple stalkerware apps go offline after breaches

Following a data breach, multiple stalkerware apps have gone offline. The same easily exploitable vulnerability was found in three of the apps, leading to the compromise of victims’ data.
